October Poetry part III, Inktober inspired

The armadillo roams the plains,
In search of something new.
He finds a rose, and stops to gaze,
Admiring its bright hue.

A rose and a fowl
In a garden did grow,
The rose was as red
As a fowl's beak could be.

The fowl looked at the rose
With a bemused expression
Then plucked and ate it
To the rose's consternation.

The salty water of an ocean
The tears of ancient gods
The only thing that keeps me going
Is the hope that I'll find a way
To get back to my home
And to the ones I love

When the weather outside is frightful
And you're feeling quite dull
There's nothing quite like raclette
To make you feel full

First you melt the cheese
Then you scrape it off the block
It's so gooey and delicious
You'll never want to stop

So gather round the table
And enjoy this winter treat
It's the perfect way to stay warm
When the snow is at your feet

***

I love the way you move
It's hard to look away
I love the way your ponytail sways
It's like a dance
I love the way you smell of roses
You're like a summer day
I love the way you make me feel
It's hard to find words to say
My heart is yours
I love the way

A rose is beautiful
My girl is even more
The bluff is high
But the girl is higher
The girl is the rose of the bluff

The Puppy

He tore apart my cushions
And scattered the stuffing
All over the floor.

He dug up my rosebush
And left a big hole
In the middle of the yard.

But when I came home
And saw the mess he'd made,
I couldn't help but laugh.
Because despite the trouble
That he always causes,
I love my dog.
